I never learnt Social Media Marketing, but after managing HKUST Swimming Team and HKUST Water Polo Team's social media accounts, I realized how important it is to maintain and update social media accounts with high quality.
The account raises the awareness of Public Affairs Office (PAO). One of their staff contacted me and said our page is amazing. Since PAO manages official Facebook and Instagram accounts of hte University, they suggest posting photos of us. Without them, we cannot promote our victory in the Men's Water Polo Championships.
After managing both official accounts of Facebook and Instagram, I learnt a few techniques which I'd loved to share with you all.
1. High quality photos
HD photos are recommended since it is the first impression of users to your profile. HD photos makes you look professional. Therefore, hiring a professional photographer to all your activities and events will surely accumulate a pile of photos to select.
2. Use filters, graphics and watermark
Filters and graphics makes your photo unique. Filters affects users mood. Use a bright filter if the photos convey the message of happiness or celebration. Use dark filters with large contrast for cool photos. Use watermark in photos and videos to create brand loyalty.
3. Captions and hash tags
Since you cannot skip a line using Instagram, type your caption somewhere else (Notes / Microsoft Word). Make the caption short and precise, avoid difficult words to create a pleasure experience for the audience. Avoid using too much hash tags, use unique brand and related hashtags. Here's an example on how I do it.

4. Tag the person
Try to tag people involved to gain their attention and loyalty. They follow your page for a reason, tagging them increase the interaction with them and make them feel like they are part of the organization.
